Jayne County And Lisa Jackson Are

Girls Gone Wild
One Night Only! Sunday, May 4 at Fez

"Genderfuck has pioneers like everything else, and this foxy (if brawny) babe delivers on the been-around-the-block front. The music? Pure, dirty, down trash. But the category of trash was invented for people like lovely Jayne [County]--the wise ones who know rock was invented for them to make a mess of" -- The Village Voice

"Sporting a diagonal dress and mall-ready rocker-chick hair, big-lunged Lisa [Jackson] ripped into attitudey classics... She's got the beat!" -- The Village Voice

On Sunday, May 4th, trannie punk legend Jayne County teams up with the newest rockin’ trannie on the block Lisa Jackson to premiere Girls Gone Wild. Completely live and uncensored, these two gals deliver an eccentric and eclectic evening of music combining nearly 5 decades of experience.

Singing the songs that made them famous, Jayne County and Lisa Jackson prove that they are Girls Gone Wild. From Lisa’s "Beautiful Freak" to Jayne’s "Fuck Off" the show is a little bit punk, a dash of country and wallop of rock-n-roll. The acoustic set of originals and covers from the ‘70s to the present is peppered with wicked, witty and obscene banter between Jayne and Lisa, who have already been hailed as the Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin of the trannie world. The night promises to be an exciting and outrageous compilation of punk, jive, pop and circumstance.

Called "a punk-rock Blanche DuBois" by the Los Angeles Times, Jayne County is a trannie legend who both rioted at Stonewall and grooved at Woodstock. County acted in surrealist theatrical farces like the Warhol-sponsored Pork and DJ'd at Max's Kansas City, where she began performing with her band in 1972. When punk exploded, County started making records, performing, and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Sid Vicious and the Clash. After a brief hiatus, she resurfaced as acclaimed DJ and performer in the ‘90s. Her albums include Blatantly Offensive, Storm the Gates of Heaven, and Deviation. County's biography Man Enough to be a Woman was published in 1995 by Serpents Tail. County and Lisa Jackson were seen together this past holiday season in Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree -- Unplugged.

Lisa Jackson is a New York-based singer/songwriter. Along with rock-infused original work, she often pays tribute to the women of rock who influenced not just her love of music, but also her taste in clothes. Lisa Jackson has performed at CBGB's, China Club, Don Hill's, Fez, Meow Mix, Parkside Lounge and The Slipper Room. Time Out notes "Lisa Jackson is certainly creating a buzz on the nightlife scene. After years of success as the lead (male) singer of the Steve Friday Band, the performer has reinvented himself as a crossdresser whose act pays homage to the ladies of the ‘80s ... So far the response has been ultra-enthusiastic to Jackson’s incredible renditions." Jackson will be opening for Pat Benatar during the Milwaukee Gay Pride festivities this June.
