Record-breaking event features Prairie Rose Wranglers, Sons of the San Joaquin, Roy Rogers, Jr., Joni Harms, Johnny Western, Mickey Dawes & more
On May 30th, 2003 Cowboys from across the country gather to perform The Great American Cowboy In Concert at Carnegie Hall. Produced by Prairie Rose Productions of Wichita, Kansas, the concert will set a record as the largest group of Cowboys to ever perform at the legendary venue (the 2nd largest gathering was in 1951).
The Great American Cowboy In Concert will feature beloved Cowboy classics including "Cool Water", "Tumbling Tumbleweeds", "Home On The Range" and "Happy Trails," plus a host of new Western songs that are destined to be tomorrow's classics. This concert, emceed by Mickey Dawes, is guaranteed to delight the Cowboy in everyone, young and old!
The talent roster for the evening includes:
- Prairie Rose Wranglers are the in-house entertainers at the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Supper in Wichita, Kansas. Recently nominated for Western Group of The Year and Western Album Of The Year at The Western Music Awards (WMA), the group is slated to release its sixth album.
- The Sons of the San Joaquin were awarded the 2001 National Western Heritage Award, and three 2001 WMA’s: Traditional Western Duo Group of the Year, Song of the Year and Western Album of the Year.
- Film, TV and recording artist Roy Rogers Jr. is the son of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
- A working cowboy for twenty-five years, Waddie Mitchell has become known as one of America's best loved Cowboy poets and humorists.
- Joni Harms, America's #1 female Western artist, is the winner of the prestigious Will Rogers Cowboy Award for Entertainer of the Year.
- Johnny Western is known as one of the last of the "Singing Cowboys." Having written such classics as "Ballad of Paladin" and co-writing the theme song for TV’s Bonanza, Western often performed with Gene Autry and Johnny Cash.
- Mickey Dawes is not only the President of the Western Music Association (WMA) but is also known as Western humorist extraordinaire.
- Barry Ward is a fourth generation Cowboy from western Kansas. In addition to his cowboying skills, Ward musically brings alive the heart of today's Cowboy.
