POP DUO RETURNS TO FEZ
Laura and Amber
** Featuring Laura Bell Bundy and Amber Rhodes **
One Performance Only! Sunday, March 14
Laura Bell Bundy (the original Amber Von Tussle in the Tony Award winning musical Hairspray) and her musical partner Amber Rhodes return to Fez with their hot pop duo act Laura and Amber for one night only, Sunday, March 14 at 8:00pm.
Laura and Amber present an infectious confection of feel-good pop goodies including original songs and covers that guarantee to lift the spirits and warm the heart. Call it Pop, Pop/Rock, or Country/Pop, the music of Laura and Amber is as fresh and young as the Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain and Leann Rimes but with a sense of history, infusing a dab of Carole King and Linda Ronstadt. Their covers run the gamut of the youthful exuberance of "Goodbye Yesterday" to the music of yesteryear with songs by the likes of Willie Nelson or Ray Charles. Friends since the playpen, Laura and Amber’s story begins in Lexington, KY in the early 80’s. From school plays, concerts and countless beauty pageant trophies to making it in their respective careers, the duo shares their journey with great singing, playing and quality songwriting.
At the age of six Laura Bell Bundy started working in New York, beginning what would become a successful acting career. Beyond originating the role of Amber Von Tussle in the Broadway smash Hairspray, Laura has also been seen on the stage in Ruthless (with Britney Spears as her understudy), The Sound Of Music with Marie Osmond and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. On Television she played the role of Marah on "The Guiding Light" (1999-2001), appeared on "Home Improvement," "Strangers With Candy" and "Curtis Court" and has had roles in the feature films Jumanji, Life with Mikey and The Adventures of Huck Finn.
While Laura was finding her acting groove, Amber Rhodes was discovering the craft of songwriting. Though acting and dancing are certainly a large part of Amber’s history as well, touring the Northeast with numerous dance shows and acting in several dinner theaters, Amber’s love for playing the piano and crafting pop songs led to a songbook well beyond her years. In addition to writing the bulk of the songs in the Laura and Amber set, Amber also works as a staff writer for Stray Dog Music penning songs for new artists in New York, Nashville as well as the UK and Germany.
Laura and Amber appear Sunday, March 14 at 8:00pm. Fez is located inside Time Cafe at 380 Lafayette at Great Jones (accessible by the B/D/F/Q at Broadway/Lafayette). Tickets are $10. For reservations and information call 212-533-2680 or visit click here.
