"gleefully naughty and borderline brilliant... a very crude, very funny, wonderful piece of writing" -- Broadway.com
"manages to make tired clichés about stoners and popular homecoming airheads funny and endearing" - New York Magazine
The FringeNYC hit Dog Sees God transfers to a limited engagement Off-Broadway run at the Soho Playhouse beginning September 8th. Performances of this new play written and directed by Bert V. Royal are scheduled to run through September 19th.
Good grief! Even cartoon characters have to grow up eventually. Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead shows what happens when America’s favorite blockhead discovers that his beloved beagle has terminal rabies. A missing pen pal, an abused pianist, a pyromaniac ex-girlfriend, two drunk cheerleaders, a homophobic quarterback, a burnt-out Buddhist and a drama queen sister are all contributing factors to the teen-angst of America’s most hapless kid. An unauthorized parody.
The show stars Daniel Franzese (Mean Girls), Michael Gladis (K19: The Widowmaker, Off B’way’s Fifth of July), Bridget Barkan (HBO’s Everyday People), Karen Diconcetto ("Daphne" of UK pop group Daphne and Celeste), Benjamin Schrader, Jay Sullivan, Melissa Picarello and Stelianie Tekmitchov.
Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead runs September 8 -19, Wednesday - Friday @ 8pm, Saturday at 3pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm & 7pm. Tickets range from $25 - $38.50. Soho Playhouse is located at 15 Vandam Street (between 6th & 7th Avenues -- accessible from the C& E trains at Spring Street). For tickets visit Telecharge.com or call 212-239-6200.
