"a kick-ass, funny-smart, so-wrong-it's-right must-see show... a screamingly kooky window into a time when homos were thought to be uber-sad deviants. (You'll so relate.)" -- Next Magazine
Inspired by the 1969 #1 National bestseller Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask, SEX*BUT takes you through a series of questions and answers that reveal the inner workings of the mysterious and previously hidden world of homosexuality. Based entirely on Chapter 8: Male Sexuality, this educational flashback is directed Erik Sniedze (THE DILEMMA OF DRUGS, THE PLANK PROJECT) for an open ended run beginning October 10th at The Belt Theater. The piece was workshopped last season at both Fez and The Marquee.
SEX*BUT is presented as a question and answer forum. The questions include: What do homosexuals really do with each other?, Are all homosexual contacts as impersonal as that?, An Artificial Vagina?, and Aren't homosexuals afraid of being arrested? The piece also features special "friend of the director's commentary," an underwear fashion show and and an unforgettable dance break!
The cast features Andersen Gabrych (GYPSY 83, GRAVITY ALWAYS WINS), Jonny McGovern (DIRTY STUFF), Jack Ferver (STRANGERS WITH CANDY, THE DILEMMA OF DRUGS), Jonathan Lisecki (THE DILEMMA OF DRUGS, GRAVITY ALWAYS WINS), Matthew Wilkas (THE LAST SUNDAY IN JUNE, FAR & WIDE), and Jenn Harris (THE DILEMMA OF DRUGS, THE PLANK PROJECT).
SEX*BUT will be presented Sundays beginning October 10 at 7:00pm for an open-ended run. (Please note: there is no performance on Halloween, Oct. 31.) Tickets are $15. The Belt Theater is located at 336 West 37th Street (between 8th & 9th Aves -- accessible from the A,C,E trains at 34th Street).
