Eve Ensler made women’s sexual organs a topic of international discussion with her seminal play The Vagina Monologues. Now director/playwright Robert Watts gives men their shot with THE PENIS MONOLOGUES: MEN SPEAK. Performances of this limited engagement will end on May 15th instead of the previously announced date of June 26th. The production began previews March 8th and opened March 11th at The Beckett Theater.

Funny, sad, angry, outrageous, emotional, and very touching, THE PENIS MONOLOGUES: MEN SPEAK depicts men from all walks of life and status -- gay to straight, single to married, sons to fathers -- showing the common connection that all men have with each other. The play uses a blend of humor and pathos to deal with the issues of what being a man means today. Monologues touch on humorous subjects including size issues, and contraceptive use, as well as more serious issues including cancer and rape. Culled from extensive interviews, the play reveals the often secretive differences men feel about themselves and their masculinity, as well as the one common thread that connects them all.

The production stars Lev Gorn, Christian Johnstone, and Steve Luker (Broadway’s 42nd Street) and features lighting and set design by David LaVigna, sound by Richard Hill and Geno Heiter, and costumes by Susan R. Cassidy.

Robert Watts is the founder of Fairfield Theatre in Fairfield, Connecticut. He is also co-founder of Amber Rose Productions, a theater production company located in Elmont, New York; the President of Westport Theatre in Westport, Connecticut; and Executive Producer of Eastbound Theatre in Milford, Connecticut. He has directed over 35 shows in the Connecticut area.

THE PENIS MONOLOGUES: MEN SPEAK runs through May 15, Tuesday-Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 4pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 4:00pm & 7:30pm.
