Drag Superstar Jackie Beat is

THE GOODBYE GIRL
3 Shows Only! March 13 & 14 at Fez
Click here to view cards/pics of Jackie Beat's past shows

"Those who’ve witnessed drag superstar Jackie Beat know what she really is: a piece of trash -- but an amazingly witty, sarcastic, and bitchy piece of trash. Ms. Beat’s wickedly morose humor has split the sides of many unsuspecting spectators, performing your favorite tunes in her own twisted way." -- Village Voice

"For Beat, lack of subtlety isn't just a lifetime trait; it’s an art form" - Back Stage

"if she actually slays you with her barbed-wire witticism, I’m sure that she’ll politely step over your dead carcass on her way to the bar" -- HX

After over 200 performances during the last seven years, JACKIE BEAT bids farewell to Fez, the venue that she has called her New York home, with an extravaganza titled THE GOODBYE GIRL. Fez is located at 380 Lafayette Street (@ Great Jones Street). This limited engagement runs for 3 performances only: Sunday, March 13 at 8pm & 10pm and Monday, March 14 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $18. For reservations call 212-533-2680 or visit feznyc.com.

THE GOODBYE GIRL is the ultimate "Best of" series of shows featuring the favorite songs culled from Jackie Beat’s shows over the past 7 years at Fez. Each of the 3 performances will feature different material. Highlights are sure to include Jackie’s unique takes on Dolly Parton’s "9 to 5" as an ode to internet chatrooms, a homage to the 70’s gay "hanky code" set to "Tie A Yellow Ribbon", the first pro-suicide disco song set to "The Hustle," a pro-marijuana song based on Cyndi Lauper’s "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," and a shitload of scatological song parodies. Other songs in Beat's twisted repertory include "Baby Got Back," "Diamonds Are Forever," "Witchcraft," "Toxic," "Half Breed," "White Rabbit," "Neutron Dance", "Love Will Keep Us Together," "China Girl," "Supersonic," "Beautiful," and "Private Dancer," which she has rewritten as odes to abortion, suicide, pedophilia, drug abuse, child abuse, spouse abuse, sexual fetishes and the ultimate scourge, homosexuality.

Fez closes its door forever on March 17th following two shows by The Mingus Big Band, an act that has played at the venue almost every Thursday since 1991. Countless acts representing the best in music, theater, comedy and performance art have played the legendary room including Rufus Wainwright, Jewel, Pink, Joni Mitchell, Johnny Cash, Diamanda Galas, Karen Finley, Joan Rivers, Janeane Garofalo, Lady Bunny, Va Va Voom Room, John Kelly, Murray Hill, Holly Woodlawn, Norah Jones, Duncan Sheik, Jeff Buckley, Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple, Penny Arcade and The Losers’ Lounge.

JACKIE BEAT has been named Best Drag Queen by New York Press, and Best Live Performance by HX Magazine. She moved to New York from LA in 1996 to star in the off-Broadway production of Valley of the Dolls, and later starred in off-Broadway’s Tell-Tale. She has appeared on the big screen in the Joel Schumacher/Robert DeNiro film Flawless as well as the independent films Grief and Wigstock. Beat moved back to LA in 2000 to assume a role as head writer on the short-lived WB sketch comedy show "Hype!". In addition to appearances on numerous national talk shows, she was a contributing writer to US Weekly Magazine. Jackie is also a member of the band Dirty Sanchez. Her past performances at Fez include Uptown Lady Downtown Girl, Merry F**king Christmas, Love Child, and I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On.
