Eva Dean Dance will celebrate its 20th anniversary with BOUNCE at Dance Theater Workshop beginning July 20th. BOUNCE is an energetic, playful and provocative romp using colorful balls and nimble bodies to create a uniquely entertaining form of dance theater. You’ll see a rubber ball orchestra, dolphins diving over giant balls, a wickedly fun playground romp, a moon garden with serene orbiting planets, a genie balanced on a pearl, a 100 ball waterfall and other one-of-a-kind dances, all created using bodies and balls. This acclaimed suite of "balls dances" appeals to adventurous people of all ages.

The program will be performed by Jessica Campbell, Eva Dean, Lauren Griffin, Claudia MacPherson, Rosangela Peixoto, and Brooke Welty with costumes by Jean Hill.

Eva Dean began her exploration of choreography using balls in 2001 with Balls, Balls, Balls. The original incarnation of Bounce premiered in the 2002 New York International Fringe Festival. Dean followed that premiere with Oh Balls! The current incarnation of BOUNCE uses the best works from all three productions. "Balls are truly magical," says Dean "No matter your age, you simply can’t resist them!"

At DTW, Eva Dean Dance will also present BOUNCE JR., a 45 minute version of BOUNCE created specifically for those with a shorter attention span ages 4 to 104. These special matinees feature a performance by New York public school students in addition to colorful works from the regular BOUNCE program.

Eva Dean Dance is a Brooklyn-based company established in 1985 which is known for its vibrant and imaginative repertory. Ms. Dean is a prolific choreographer who has created over forty dances during the past 20 years. Her work has been seen at venues including City Center, Joyce SoHo, DTW, Brooklyn Museum of Art, the 92nd Street Y, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, HERE and at numerous schools, colleges, and universities nationally. BOUNCE runs July 20 - 31, Weds. - Sat. at 7:30 pm with BOUNCE JR. Sat. & Sun. at 2:00 pm and an additional matinee on Weds, July 27 at 2:00pm. Tickets range from $25 to $13.
