MEAT

"Some sketch comedy performers are fine actresses; some are terrific mimics; some can write directly to the gag as well as underneath it. MEAT is all over all of it."- Chicago Tribune
"Tasty & nutritious comedy."- Village Voice
"the wit, flair and sass that would make ‘SNL’ envious" - Chicago Tribune
"fresh, juicy and brilliant" -- The Oregonian
Award-winning all-female comedy quartet MEAT serves up its unique brand of sketch comedy for a six week run at Ace of Clubs (9 Great Jones Street, inside Acme -- accessible from the 6 train at Bleecker or the B,D,V,F trains at Lafayette), Wednesdays from September 28-November 2. Showtime is 8:00 PM. (Doors for each show open at 7:00 PM, with half-price drinks from 7:00-7:30 pm. Tickets are $8; available at 212-352-3101 or TheaterMania.com.
MEAT performs a rotating set of over 200 sketches, featuring everything from Children-of-the-Damned English youngsters run amok (their sister Melanie had a problem with sharing. Then she had an "accident") to predatory robot lovemaking. Characters that recur through many sketches include Cynthia Falconcrest, resident film critic (her scatological reviews of films like "Daddy Day Care" and "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days" are virtually unprintable in any publication), as well as "Dr. Jan Rosenthal: Deaf Gynecologist."
"Few sketch comedy troupes are completely comprised of women," notes MEAT member Elizabeth Ellis, "and no other troupe --- all-women, all-men, or still unsure of what they are --- approach MEAT in the level of insanity we dish out at every show. Even vegetarians love MEAT!"
Meat regularly tours the U.S., has performed at major comedy festivals in Chicago, Seattle, Washington, Portland, and Vancouver, and has performed at twenty New York venues previously, including Caroline’s, Upright Citizen’s Brigade, the Culture Project, Galapagos, the Improv, and the Zipper. This run marks their Ace of Clubs debut. For more info visit funnymeat.com.
