Theater Ten Ten will present a return engagement of the award winning New York International Fringe Festival hit KISS AND CRY. This romantic comedy by Tom Rowan is directed by Kevin Newbury. Previews begin February 10th with opening night scheduled for Monday, February 13th.
Stacy, a champion male figure skater on his way to the Olympics, and Fiona, a hot young movie starlet, are the nation's favorite couple--as long as nobody finds out they're both gay. Straight from today’s blind item gossip columns, KISS AND CRY is a romantic comedy about love, sex, fame and the lengths people will go to in the pursuit of success.
The production stars David Lavine, Julie Leedes, Timothy Dunn, Nell Gwynn and Elizabeth Cooke, and Reed Prescott with set by Robert Monaco (Outstanding Set Design, Fringe NYC 2004), costumes by Joanne Haas and sound by Robert Gould.
Playwright Tom Rowan directed Theater Ten Ten's acclaimed productions of Twelfth Night, The Winter's Tale and Two Gentlemen of Verona. Tom is a consultant for Queens Theatre in the Park and a former Literary Manager at Ensemble Studio Theatre, where he directed Craig Lucas's Grief and Deborah Grimberg's The Honey Makers. With an MFA from the University of Washington, Tom came to New York in 1998 on a Drama League Directing Fellowship. Other recent directing includes Slight Alterations for Abingdon Theatre Company and The Comedy of Errors and Romeo and Juliet for Princeton Rep Shakespeare Festival. His play The Second Tosca is currently in development.
Director Kevin Newbury was educated at Bowdoin College and Oxford University. New York theater productions include Candy and Dorothy (Theater Three), The Eumenides (American Theatre of Actors) and Baptizing Adam (Phil Bosakowski Theatre). He is a member of the Lincoln Center Theatre Director's Lab, Rattlestick Theatre's Play Development Group and the American Guild of Musical Artists. Kevin will assist director Tom Cairns on Wallace Sean's The Music Teacher. He has served as Assistant/Associate Director for productions at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Opera Colorado, Boston Lyric Opera, Santa Fe Opera and New York City Opera.
