Partial Comfort Productions Premieres
THE BIGGER MAN
June 29 - July 23 at Center Stage
Partial Comfort Productions (...a matter of Choice, Booty Candy) presents the World Premiere of THE BIGGER MAN by Sam Marks. Directed by Louis Moreno (Blues for a Gray Sun at Intar), previews begin June 29th at Center Stage. Opening night is set for July 2nd.
Len, a former thief and all-around screw-up, has serious doubts about the upcoming wedding of his ex-girlfriend. The night before the ceremony, while sharing a hotel room with his drug addict buddy, Len is certain that something is not quite right about the entire event. He may not be the Best Man, but can he be THE BIGGER MAN? Pitting urban nihilism against suburban optimism, this off-kilter love story is played out in soggy hotel rooms, with paranoid wedding guests, an aggressively friendly host, and uncertain danger lurking at every turn.
Sam Marks’ first full-length play, Craft, debuted at the Flea Theater in 2002 and was later developed into a cable television series with Frank Pugliese, Tom Fontana and Greenestreet Films. Sam’s second play, Which Wolf is Which, was produced in 2003 at HERE. He has also worked with The New Group, The Bat Theater Company and the Labyrinth Theater Company. Currently, Marks is a playwriting Fellow at Brown University, studying under Paula Vogel, Erin Cressida Wilson, and Oskar Eustis. As an actor, he has been seen on stage at BAM, Classic Stage Company, and the Flea Theater. He appeared on "Law and Order," several national commercials and two independent films. Sam was born and raised in Lower Manhattan, attended Stuyvesant High School, Stanford University and New York University.
The productions stars Mark Alhadeff, Barnaby Carpenter, Sharon Freedman, Greg Keller, and Molly Pearson with set and costume by Lex Liang, lighting design by Jason Jeunnette, sound design by Zach Williamson, casting by Judy Bowman, stage management by Claire M. Raper and production management by Chad Beckim.
