Hit Brazilian Drama Makes US Premiere
TWO DESTINIES
July 7 - 30 at The 14th Street Y
After three acclaimed productions in Brazil, Guile Branco’s TWO DESTINIES makes its US Premiere. Originally presented in Portuguese, Branco has translated the play into English for this production directed by Emanuelle Villorini. Previews being July 7th at The 14th Street Y with opening night slated for Sunday, July 9th.
Robert is a World War II veteran with a fondness for plays by Edward Albee. Roberto is a young man still reeling from the death of his mother. TWO DESTINIES intertwine when the two men meet on a bench in Central Park in 1967. Soon secrets are revealed and past battles pave the way for future conflicts.
TWO DESTINIES stars Robert Haufrecht and Guile Branco featuring sound and lighting by Clarence Gilliard and sets by Maya Kaplun. The production will also feature live piano accompaniment by Audra Baas (playigng Rachmanioff on a Steinway piano).
Guile Branco was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in in 1979. In Brazil he has appeared in numerous professional plays and national level soap operas for GLOBO, SBT, and Record (the top three TV networks in Brazil). Since moving to New York in 2003, he has starred in numerous independent films, including Demon, which recently won an Audience Choice Award at The 2006 Westchester Film Festival. His other plays include Carine and Venatia. A competing bodybuilder from 1996 - 2001, Branco now runs his own fitness training company when he is not acting or writing. Robert Haufrecht produced, directed and acted in many plays at Common Basis Theatre where he was the Managing Director, including Burn This, The Headhunter, Betrayal, and La Ronde. He won an OOBR Award for acting and directing The Devil's Home Movies. In Paris, Robert played in Arthur Miller's View From The Bridge and in Berlin, the holocaust play Bells and Trains. Robert also teaches both privately and at the School of Visual Arts.
