Drag Artist Returns to NYC

JACKIE BEAT: FEAR OF INTIMACY
October 20 & 21 at The Cutting Room

"hostile, lewd, and riotously funny" -- Time Out

"Beat is a trained theater actress, but no amount of training could make a person this talented, this witty, or this scathing. The show should just be called 'Jackie Beat is a Fucking Genius.'" -The Village Voice

"a triple-shot barrage of twisted songs, barbed social commentary and all-around bad taste" - Staten Island Advance

JACKIE BEAT, everyone's favorite big and bawdy, bold and ballsy, in-your-face funny "lady" makes an unexpected stop in New York this Fall. On October 20, she premieres JACKIE BEAT: FEAR OF INTIMACY at The Cutting Room (19 West 24th Street -- accessible from the N,R,F,V & 6 trains at 23rd Street). This limited engagement runs for 2 performances only: Saturday, October 20 at 11pm and Sunday, October 21 at 9pm. Tickets are $18, available at 212-352-3101 or by clicking here.

People have often called Jackie Beat "fearless." But its not true. In JACKIE BEAT: FEAR OF INTIMACY, she finally divulges the awful truth about the one phobia she can't beat: intimacy. It is a fear that dooms her relationship with legions of adoring fans as well as a plethora of hopeful lovers. In this intimate new show, this classic love-hate relationship manifests itself in some delightfully crass new ditties, with ample stops along the way to sing about her favorite subjects. Warning: look, but don't touch.

L.A. based performer JACKIE BEAT has been named Best Drag Queen by New York Press and Best Live Performance by HX Magazine. She has appeared on the big screen in the Joel Schumacher/Robert DeNiro film Flawless as well as the indie films Grief, and Wigstock. Her stage credits include Valley of the Dolls and Tell-Tale Off-Broadway and numerous live solo shows including Uptown Lady Downtown Girl, How the Bitch Stole Christmas, and I Didn't Mean to Turn You On. She has written for the SciFi Channel, the WB sketch comedy show Hype! and US Magazine's Fashion Police. She has also provided the voice of Bertha on Nickelodeon's animated series Kung-Fu Spy Troll. She is the subject of the documentary film My Name is Jackie Beat culled from over 5 years of performance footage including commentary from Joan Rivers, Margaret Cho, Lady Bunny, and Roseanne Barr (for whom Jackie often performs as an opening act), among others. She is also the lead singer of the popular electroclash band Dirty Sanchez.
