THE SITE

Ivy Productions presents the World Premiere of Al Schnupp’s THE SITE. Directed by Mark Sitko, previews begin May 18th at Walkerspace. Opening night is slated for Thursday, May 22nd.

In THE SITE, fickle scientist Professor Harold Roth travels the world to isolated research stations where he conducts unusual field studies. Currently, Harold is digging up toads under a dry lake bed in Arizona. He is accompanied by his wife, a once successful but now crazed poet, as well as a crew of misfits, his delinquent son Matt and Matt’s pregnant girlfriend. When a bizarre stranger arrives, she wields absolute power over the group, threatening to reveal deep and horrific secrets.

The production stars Marty Brown, Sarah Claspell, Bobby Hodgson, Rebecca Lingafelter, Ian Merrigan, Aimée Phelan-Deconinck, and Jenny Seastone Stern, with stage management by Julie Rossman, lighting by Kell Condon, costumes by Antonia Ford Roberts, and sound design & original music by Mark Valadez

Al Schnupp was trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and earned a PhD from UCLA. He won the Margo Jones National Playwriting Award for his play My Body. He co-wrote and designed The Stone Circle at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta where it was awarded an UNIMA International Citation of Excellence. His other plays include Censored (about German artist Käthe Kollwitz), Living Stones, The Travels of Tobias (winner of an Art Inspires Grant), and Zero to Infinity. In addition to writing for the theatre, Mr. Schnupp has directed and designed over seventy plays. Currently, he teaches theatre at California Polytechnic State University.

THE SITE runs May 18 - June 7, Wednesday - Sunday at 8pm with an additional performance Monday, May 19 at 8pm.
