Drag Artist Returns to NYC to Prove that Bigger is Better

JACKIE BEAT is TRANS FAT
May 23 - 25 at The Cutting Room

"hostile, lewd, and riotously funny" -- Time Out

"Beat is a trained theater actress, but no amount of training could make a person this talented, this witty, or this scathing. The show should just be called 'Jackie Beat is a F**cking Genius.'" --The Village Voice

"considerable potential harm but no apparent benefit." -- New England Journal of Medicine (on Trans Fat)

JACKIE BEAT, everyone's favorite big and bawdy, bold and ballsy, in-your-face funny "lady" makes her 11th annual NYC Memorial Day Weekend appearance. On May 23, she premieres JACKIE BEAT is TRANS FAT at The Cutting Room (19 West 24th Street -- accessible from the N,R,F,V & 6 trains at 23rd Street). This limited engagement runs for 3 performances only: May 23 - 25 at 8pm. Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door, available online at 212-352-3101.

As of July 1, all restaurants in New York City are forbidden to serve items that contain more than a half-gram of trans fat per serving. In JACKIE BEAT is TRANS FAT, the gutsy Queen of King-Size presents an impassioned plea to Mayor Bloomberg to stop the madness. This partially-hydrogenated night of song and story features such Jackie Beat classics as Chinese Food (a parody of David Bowie's China Girl), Fat Tragic Woman (to the tune of Santana's Black Magic Woman), and La Isla Burrito (inspired by Madonna's La Isla Bonita), plus new material including I Need A Hero! (with apologies to Bonnie Tyler), These Boobs (with a nod to Nancy Sinatra) and Donuts Are A Girl's Best Friend. So, belly up to this drag smorgasbord, larded down with tranny tasties and a dollop of hate. You'll laugh 'til you have a heart attack.

L.A. based performer JACKIE BEAT has been named Best Drag Queen by New York Press and Best Live Performance by HX Magazine. She has appeared on the big screen in the Joel Schumacher/Robert DeNiro film Flawless as well as the indie films Grief and Wigstock. Her stage credits include Valley of the Dolls and Tell-Tale Off-Broadway and numerous live solo shows including Uptown Lady Downtown Girl, How the Bitch Stole Christmas, and I Didn't Mean to Turn You On. She has written for the SciFi Channel, the WB sketch comedy show Hype! and US Magazine's Fashion Police. She has also provided the voice of Bertha on Nickelodeon's animated series Kung-Fu Spy Troll. She is the subject of the documentary film My Name is Jackie Beat culled from over 5 years of performance footage including commentary from Joan Rivers, Margaret Cho, Lady Bunny, and Roseanne Barr (for whom Jackie often performs as an opening act), among others. She is also the lead singer of the popular electroclash band Dirty Sanchez.
