On Friday, November 29 Alison Arngrim returns to New York after two sold-out shows in June with a vindictive holiday season valentine Nellie's Nasty Noel three performances only at Fez. Best known as pre-Midol meanie Nellie Oleson from "Little House on the Prairie", Alison Arngrim presents an uproarious evening of storytelling and stand-up to let us know what Christmas on the prairie was really like.
Alison was most recently seen early this summer in Confessions of a Prairie Bitch in which she uproariously recalled her life and career as America's favorite bitchy child star. Never afraid to dish the dirt on TV land, she let all the secrets loose of "Little House on the Prairie", Hollywood, child celebrities and much more. Now she returns to deliver her own brand of Holiday cheer in Nellie's Nasty Noel.
Alison, quite pleasant and hysterical in person, reflects on her role as Nellie: "I loved being bad! In real life, I was bully fodder. When I got the part, I was like, 'I'm the scary one? I get to make the other little girls cry?' Most people don't get to do that. That's why there are serial killers."
Since the age of fifteen, Alison Arngrim has been performing stand-up at such notable comedy clubs as The Laugh Factory, The Improvisation, The Comedy Store, Improv in Los Angeles, and Laff Stop, and she has toured her comedy in the U.S. and Canada. Of Arngrim’s portrayal of Nellie Oleson, Don Freeman of TV Guide wrote that she was "an actress in the direction of Bette Davis and Bob Hope." In addition to her starring role for seven years on "Little House on the Prairie," Arngrim has guest starred on "Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island." After her good friend and "Little House" co-star, Steve Tracy, died of AIDS in 1986, Arngrim became a prominent AIDS activist. She has volunteered since 1986, serving a variety of roles at AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). In 1988 Arngrim spoke before the Presidential Commission on AIDS and was the first woman to receive the "Friend in Deed" award at APLA. In 1992 she was presented with a resolution by the Los Angeles City Council commending her on her work on behalf of people living with HIV and AIDS.
Nellie's Nasty Noel runs Nov. 29 - Dec. 1, Fri. - Sun. at 8:00pm (doors open at 7:00pm). Tickets are $18 ($15 for students).
