Beginning Sunday, February 2nd, Emmy award-winning, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Ellen Cleghorne appears at Fez for two performances only. Delivering her unique brand of off-the-wall comedy, Cleghorne will invite surprise guests each week to take the stage with her in an irreverent celebration of Black History Month.
Ellen Cleghorne & Friends delivers an uproarious spin on Black History Month from the woman behind such unforgettable characters as Zoraida, the in-your-face NBC page ("What makes you think I won't cut you Kirstie Alley!?"), Shaniqua, the Areocentric critic and dead-on impersonations of Anita Hill, Whoopi Goldberg, and singer Natalie Cole.
Ellen Cleghorne, a native New Yorker, began a four-year stint on "Saturday Night Live" in 1991. She left SNL for her own sitcom, "Cleghorne!", playing a single mother dealing with all that comes. Cleghorne also appeared on The WB's "Parenthood," ABC's "C-16, and Fox's "In Living Color, and she was head writer for "The Roseanne Show." Cleghorne has performed her comedy across the US and Europe. She has made numerous television appearances on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Keenan Ivory Wayans Show," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," and "Def Comedy Jam." She has appeared in over a dozen motion pictures including Nora Ephron's This is My Life, Mr. Wrong with Ellen DeGeneres, Armageddon, Adam Sandler's Little Nicky, Coyote Ugly, Dear God, and Million Dollar Hotel. She also appeared at The Public Theater in Insurrection: Holding History. Her one-woman show, Behind the Funny, first premiered at the HBO Workspace in Los Angeles and opened in New York in the fall of 2002.
Ellen Cleghorne & Friends runs Sun, Feb 2 and Sun Feb 16 at 8:00pm (doors open at 7:00pm.) Tickets are $12.
