4 stars out of 5! "MoM really rocks." -- Time Out New York

"A little like Desperate Housewives on a Susan Boyle adventure. Caliban's songs are a terrific mix of styles, and the lyrics aim for humor and genuine emotion—often inspiring both." -- Village Voice

"Funny and thought-provoking… an enjoyable, energetic experience in courage and consequence." -- nytheatre.com

"As accomplished as these five women are as singers, they’re every bit as astonishing as musicians… Whether 'MoM' offers rock, pop or pop-rock, it has eminently listenable music." -- The Star Ledger

"A rockin' good time." -- Examiner.com

Outstanding Musical winner at FringeNYC 2009, MoM - A ROCK CONCERT MUSICAL returns for a limited engagement beginning April 12 at TGB Theater.  This tale of five suburban moms who form a band for laughs and inadvertently become a phenomenon is written and directed by Richard Caliban. Opening night for this newly revised World Premiere production, which was workshopped at Oneonta Performing Arts Center and the Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey, is set for April 19.

MoM - A ROCK CONCERT MUSICAL
L follows five moms who team up to nervously play a fundraiser at the local high school gym. One thing leads to another and, before they know it, they are a full time touring band. Caught up in the euphoric whirlwind of success, their newfound freedom quickly creates problems back home as that transform from moms to rock stars. Battered by sex, drugs, alcohol and the sheer exhaustion of life on the road, the women struggle to find a balance between who they were and who they have become.

The production stars Donna Jean Fogel, Jane Keitel, Bekka Lindström, Dana McCoy, and Stefanie Seskin with sound and projection design by Jeff Knapp.

Richard Caliban has worked as a director and playwright across the country and internationally in the UK, Budapest and Uzbekiztan among other places. He was Artistic Director of critically acclaimed Cucaracha Theatre where he directed many of his plays over fourteen seasons, including Homo Sapien Shuffle at the Public Theatre. Caliban has worked with Pulitzer Prize winner Jules Feiffer on the Tony nominated revival of Knock Knock; with Michael Weller on the premiere of Help!; with Mac Wellman on the Obie and New York Outer Critics Circle Award winning premiere of Crowbar: and with Will Scheffer’s (Big Love, HBO) Easter with Naked Angels.  Other musical ventures include Teatro Slovak at HERE and Galapagos Art Center, and Les Funky Bitches Fantastique.  Caliban has developed two new musicals based on operas at the National Theatre Conservatory: Surf City (Turandot) and The Girl from Ipanema (Carmen).
